For the past few years, most of the fans and critics wanted to see a heel turn for Roman Reigns.
From day one, WWE wanted him to feed to us. Just like John Cena was in his heyday, the company wanted him to make the counterpart. The problem is the planning was not forced at the time of Cena. He was naturally ‘over’ with the crowd.
Roman Reigns started well in his career, no doubt. But, it’s the creative planning that ruined everything for him. For instance, he started climbing the mountain by winning the Royal Rumble 2015 edition. On that night, Daniel Bryan was the fan favourite to win the contest. The Philadelphia crowd backed him from the get-go.
But, choosing Roman Reigns with the help of The Rock was the worst decision. The negative reactions of the Philly crowd will always remain a prime example of a fan backlash. Ever since then, WWE created several such scenarios where the fans boo him out of the building.
It is why most of the fans and critics want him to turn into a villainous character. Previously, Roman Reigns also noted on this topic. He said he is quite a natural heel. So, he does not need any separate heel gimmick. In another such interview with Express UK, the interviewer discussed the same topic.
This time around, The Guy spoke about the best scenario for him after turning heel. As per his thoughts, after becoming a villain, he should face Daniel Bryan in a full-fledged feud. You can imagine the contradictory reactions for these two superstars. Bryan is the most natural babyface of this generation, whereas, Roman is the complete opposite.
So, this would be an ideal feud for the fans. Check out the quotes from the Big Dog of the WWE,
“Y’all want to see me turn heel, put me in the ring with Daniel Bryan. It’s just about reactions. We can talk about so many different things about wrestling and the things that make the art form and performance. But the way he’s able to affect and control the crowd is very cool and to go and share the ring with someone like that, and obviously the reactions and the way I stir up the crowd, I think it would make for a pretty dynamic and electric atmosphere.”
It is not the first time that Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan will face each other in a match. For the very first time in WWE history, Roman fought against Bryan to save his Royal Rumble win at Fastlane 2015. The fans were irate after Bryan lost the match. Going into the dream scenario, we should see this match, once again.
