Roman Reigns declared that he was fighting with Leukemia for 11 years. Doctors detected it first when he was just 22 years of old. He was able to put it back into remission with solid efforts. But it returned and he had to take time-off going to hiatus. He had to vacate the Universal Championship in order to start the fight against this terrible disease. WWE lost their franchise player for an indefinite timespan as a result of this.
Interesting backstage story after Roman Reigns’ leukemia announcement
There’s a big void on the roster at this point courtesy of his hiatus. WWE is trying to put over Braun Strowman as the next top guy on the roster. Since his backstage attitude is a big problem, there’s a backup guy in the radar, as well. Drew McIntyre is a top heel on the roster who could become a babyface in the next few months. This can turn him into a prime figure in due course.
In the meantime, the original franchise player has officially started treatment for Leukemia. Wrestling Observer Newsletter has given updates that Roman Reigns finally started the process to remove this disease. The source could not clarify how long it will take to overcome the odds. But we should not expect him for a long time span. Here are the updates, (courtesy ringsidenews.com)
“The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that while his potential return date is a long way off, Roman Reigns has officially started treatment for his leukemia. There is reportedly no discussion about a time-frame for his return at this point. Hopefully, he will beat it sooner than expected to pop the WWE Universe like never before with a surprise return to the ring.”
It also included that Leukemia is a very tough disease that awaits with a tough fight for Roman Reigns. But he is true champion by nature as we have seen on our TV screen. Plus, the Samoan family consists of a tough bunch of people that could become his support system during this battle. So the Big Dog should overcome all the odds by all means. A global fan base is sending their thoughts and prayers increasing his mental strength.
They also can’t wait to see him returning to the ring. But it’d be really hard for him to be strong enough to compete inside that ring, again. Meanwhile, first public appearance for Roman Reigns would happen in January, 2019. WWE scheduled him to appear at ACE Comic Con in Phoenix from 1/11 to 1/13 next year. Hopefully, we get a positive update on him by that time.
