WWE might take an odd route to set up the main event of Evolution PPV. They have arranged the stage for Ronda Rousey by handing over the championship. She won it by squashing Alexa Bliss at Summerslam. This might have ensured that she will be the headliner for this all-women PPV event.
Another mainstream superstar might accompany her in the main event. None other than the trusted shoulder of WWE, Nikki Bella should be the one. Current reports are suggesting that the officials have thought about inserting her at Evolution headliner match. She will challenge Ronda Rousey in a marquee contest.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed the planning sketched by the officials. As of now, Nikki Bella vs. Ronda Rousey is set for the Evolution PPV. It is not official whether this match will take place for the WWE Raw women’s championship. But the lineup should remain intact.
Some of the fans might not like the idea. But WWE has always considered Nikki Bella as their franchise players. She has garnered a lot of mainstream attention while being in a relationship with John Cena. Plus, the Bellas have their own reality shows alongside own wine company and clothing line making her a total brand.
So pitting Ronda Rousey against her could produce a successful main event at Evolution. This would be a way to drag the mainstream fans into the PPV event. Here’s the update from wrestlingINC.com,
“The idea is that Rousey and Bella are the two most famous female Superstars in the company and that they should headline Evolution because they will be the best at drawing mainstream attention.”
Nikki Bella is the longest reigning Divas Champion in the history. It will also act as an inducer of this upcoming match. She has been able to prove herself to be a great champion despite being a so-called Diva. The former runner of the female division has been out of action since 2017. This could mark her comeback to regular competition.
Well, her match with Ronda Rousey could be beneficial for the company. Already a number of performers are coming back for Evolution. Trish Stratus will feature in a match with Alexa Bliss. All the women’s titles will be on the line alongside the Mae Young Classic finale. Also, rumors suggest Michelle McCool is coming back to compete in a match at the PPV.
