WWE News: Rumor about Lillian Garcia’s release from WWE is untrue
In the midst of all the news that are coming regarding the thinning of WWE roster, one was flying around a long-term employee of WWE and that is WWE ring announcer, Lilian Garcia. The 49-year-old lady was noticeably missing from TV for some days and the rumor mill started buzzing with her release and especially when an unknown female name had surfaced on the internet, who was being considered for the release.
Though, Garcia herself let us know that she is safe. She stayed off TV to attend to a pressing family matter, according to cagesideseats.com. She later tweeted that she will be part of this week’s Monday Night Raw and posted details on Facebook, too. The lady came into the bad books of the officials at a recent event when she announced Big Cass as ‘Colin Cassady’, his wrestling name. Lilian Garcia is a part of the WWE since the year 1999 and a familiar face to the WWE Universe as a veteran ring announcer. Here is her post on Facebook:
“Imagine my surprise today when I woke up to find out that I was among the top trends in the world on twitter! Does that say “Lilian Garcia released from WWE”?? That’s when I knew I had to set the story straight. As you know, I have been absent from TV for the past few weeks due to a family member being ill. Well, that family member is my father. He has been battling bladder cancer and multiple Myeloma (blood cancer) and due to a reaction to the chemotherapy, he became very ill these past two weeks. As you can imagine, my entire family has been through a rollercoaster of emotions and cherishing all the time we have with him. I truly believe in the power of prayer and ask all of you to please pray for him.
I want to thank all of you for the many messages you have tweeted & FB’d me when you thought I had been released. It truly shows me how much I matter to you, and right now more than ever, I needed to know that. I feel so proud to work for WWE that cares so much about me.”
The thinning process of the roster started this year on 6th May 2016, the day WWE released eight superstars with an official announcement on its website. The list included former Money in the Bank contract winner Damien Sandow, former United States Champion Santino Marella, Brooklyn Brawler, Cameron, Zeb Colter, Alex Riley, El Torito, the last Cruiserweight Champion Hornswoggle and the 2015 King of the Ring winner Wade Barrett.
