Ryback is the perfect example of how an extremely talented guy can be wasted by WWE years after years. With the bad bookings one after another, the “big guy” has become a guy who is not seen in the main event scene despite all his credentials and past accomplishments. He had got a couple of high-profile feuds, becoming a Paul Heyman Guy and then uncountable face and heel turns without proper storylines has destroyed the image of the superstar.
Ryback broke out to the scene 5 years ago where he has portrayed a guy who was almost indestructible. Apart from that handful of high-profile feuds couple of times in these 5 years, he has not accomplished anything to be mentioned whereas he has all the tools to become the heavyweight champion. Recently, he spoke with Myles, a radio jockey from Dubai, where he candidly spoke about his Wrestlemania loss to Kalisto.
“To be quite honest, absolutely not. The last 3 WrestleManias have not been great. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on that but it would’ve been nice to have been on the show where both of us belong. The US Title definitely belongs on there. Hopefully, next year, if there is a next year, that it will be a better experience.”
The 34-year-old superstar spoke his heart out to be the main eventer and he will hound it until he gets it, rightfully so. He displayed his utter frustrations about the fact that he does not belong to the main event picture and gave a hint that he may not work for the franchise if he is not brought into the main event picture.
He concluded, “I’ve heard in this business hard work doesn’t always pay off. So maybe The Big Guy has to go find another world where that does pay off. But you work really, really hard at something and you dedicate yourself, and you sometimes have to be told you’re somewhere else. That’s a tough pill to swallow time and time again but I’ve never stopped believing in myself and I never will. Next year should undoubtedly be a big year for The Big Guy.”
It can only be hoped that WWE Creative is listening to it. The inclusion of Ryback and superstars like Barrett, Stardust, Dolph Ziggler, Tyler Breeze etc. to the bigger picture will eventually prove effective for the company.
