WWE creatives, as well as the fans, may take a sigh of relief after the latest announcement from WWE. There was a lot of concerns regarding the status of Sasha Banks for Elimination Chamber. An injury was reportedly prohibiting her from competing at the women’s tag team championship match on this Sunday night. But she is doing okay now.
Sasha Banks was dealing with a shoulder injury from the Royal Rumble event. She wrestled the WWE Raw women’s champion Ronda Rousey on that night to come up short in the title bout. The champion was in a lot of pain, too but not as much as the challenger. Her injury was a real one rather than being kayfabe.
This is why Sasha Banks was sporting a cuff around her hand. Plus, she was not going through in-ring competitions on the following weeks on WWE Raw. This was just a way to save her for the historic WWE Women’s tag team championship match inside the Elimination Chamber. But she has re-aggravated the injury on this past edition of WWE Raw.
She wrestled for the first time in a match after Royal Rumble. It was a tag team match against Nia Jax and Tamina with Bayley being her teammate. Sasha Banks seemed hurt legit during the match as the officials escorted her out of the ringside leaving Bayley high and dry. The officials were concerned about her injury.
But the current update from WWE.com wiped out the uncertainties over her Elimination Chamber appearance. The official website of the company let us knew that the doctors have evaluated her and gave the green signal. So there’s no bar for her to perform in the inaugural women’s tag team championship match.
Here’s the statement given by the WWE,
“After undergoing additional rehabilitation on her injured shoulder, Sasha Banks has been cleared to compete in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber Match this Sunday.”
This should give relief to millions of fans of Sasha Banks who might be on the verge of creating an auspicious moment on this Sunday night.
There are no doubts that Sasha Banks and Bayley are the favorites to come out of Elimination Chamber as the women’s tag team champions. Hopefully, the creative team retains this plan heading into Sunday. The other teams for this match will be Nia Jax & Tamina, The Riott Squad, Carmella & Naomi, The IIconics and Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.
