WWE billed Crown Jewel as another global PPV event in the calendar year of 2018. Within a gap of six months, Saudi Arabia hosted another huge show from Riyadh. The Jamal Khashoggi controversy was a big headache for the WWE while arranging this entire show. However, they could not turn their back from the multi-million dollar deal that the sports authority of the country, offered.

The deal was so huge that it was able to bring back Shawn Michaels out of his retirement. He teamed up with Triple H to take on against The Undertaker and Kane. D-generation X was up against the Brothers of Destruction after almost two decades producing a dream tag team match. This was one of the reasons that the audience glued their eyes to this particular show.
There’s no doubt that the audience had goosebumps to see Shawn Michaels back inside the ring. We could barely imagine that Undertaker and HBK would share the ring, ever again. But it became reality on last night at Crown Jewel. Michaels also hit some of his pendant moves like old times including the Sweet Chin Music. In the end, DX became the winner to close the show.
Once Crown Jewel was over, Shawn Michaels talked with WWE.com to confirm that he will stay within retirement in future. He is happy to go back into his regular role of being a trainer at the WWE performance center. He will try to avoid in-ring competition as much as possible for months to come. Here are his exact words from the interview, (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“This whole day I’ve been anxious, and nervous, and everything else. But once I got in there with everybody, it was fun, it was comfortable. I felt… did a few things, get a little warm, and you forget how tough this is on your body. I’ll be feeling it for the next several days and it’ll be a very good reminder of why I didn’t do it for 8 years. And why I’m not going to do it again if I can possibly help it.”
There were rumors about Shawn Michaels featuring in a match at this year’s Survivor Series PPV. A rematch against The Undertaker at the mentioned show or even at Wrestlemania was in works as per the previous reports. However, after hearing those comments, it is certain that we will not see him in actions for a long time.
