There’s no doubt that Brock Lesnar is the toughest athlete in combat sports history. He not only conquered the MMA division but also owned the pro-wrestling business with his relentless persona. But we might not find many superstars from present or past who respects this guy.
One of the reasons is that he does not have any respect for anybody else. It is why superstars like Shinsuke Nakamura did not like him in NJPW.
His WWE stint is the best example where he cares the least about WWE Universe. Over the course of his six-year-long tenure in the company, he wrestled only in selected PPV events. Can you believe that the biggest box-office attraction in the WWE wrestled on WWE Raw over 16 years ago? It was a match against Hardcore Legend Tommy Dreamer in a Singapore Cane match.
Years later, Brock Lesnar left the WWE and joined the NJPW promotion. He shared the ring with names like Shinsuke Nakamura in Japan. Obviously, none of these had become legends back then. But the beast failed to earn respects around the locker room even in the eastern country. The Artist has opened up on the topic in his autobiography.
Squared Circle Siren revealed a report on this Brock Lesnar issue which was mention by Reddit use, ‘nivvd’. Nakamura is coming up with his best memories of the career collecting them in a book. It will be out in public at a later point. ‘nivvd’ might have received a pre-order copy of the book and revealed some insider scoop.
As per the source, Brock Lesnar failed to impress Nakamura as well as the locker room leaders in NJPW. He went to Japan and became the IWGP Heavyweight Championship winner in 2006. But most of the superstars were not happy with his behaviour. It looks like he did not have any respect for the promotion, superstars or the fans watching the show. Here are the some of the excerpts from the source,
“First, Lesnar was saying all this stuff about how he respected New Japan, but it felt to me like that was just for show, that he didn’t really respect the promotion. Like, somewhere, he was looking down on Japanese people. I lost the match, and that was the first time I cried at pro wrestling after a match.”
Well, we can’t deny the fact entirely. We saw the past about how Brock Lesnar wants to be treated specially in the locker room. He does not care about his co-stars or the legends present in the company. However, he has earned all of this with his special performance around the globe during his entire career.
