It was every pro-wrestling fan’s dream to see Sting and The Undertaker go toe-to-toe inside the ring. This is a dream match that everybody deserved to see. But, unfortunately, that never happened despite these two staying in the circuit over 25 years.
Sting made his only Wrestlemania appearance in the year 2015 featuring in a match against Triple H. Unfortunately, he came up short in that match. Afterwards, he was pitted in a match against Seth Rollins for the WWE championship at Night of Champions 2015.
The match came to a quick end after Rollins hit Sting with a turnbuckle powerbomb which severely damaged the neck of the Icon. Following that incident, he was not medically cleared by the doctors and that was the end of his WWE career.
On the other hand, The Undertaker wrestled in his last match at this year’s Wrestlemania against Roman Reigns. Reigns won the match handing the phenome his second loss at the grandest stage of them all. This also marked the end of his illustrious career.
With that being said, the chance of the dream match between Sting and the Undertaker was wiped out. The former WCW franchise spoke to Justin Barrasso of SI.com at a WrestleCon event where this topic was brought to him and he regretted it.
He stated that it was a dream for him too as well as for the fans. The people always had the desire to see two of the all-time greats locking horns in match i.e. once in a lifetime. This is what he had to offer:
“There was a worldwide desire to see that match, It was a dream match for me, too…I regret not being able to get in the ring with him one time”
The Vigilante later stated that although the match never got the opportunity to take place, he is happy with his overall career. He feels satisfied with him and the Undertaker being two of the cornerstones of the pro-wrestling circuit over two decades.
“Of course, if I had a chance, I’d do it. But look at ‘Taker’s career; did he miss out on anything? Look at my career. I don’t think I really missed out on anything, either.”
