WWE News: Survivor Series to Run for More Than Five Hours

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Survivor Series PPV which is one of the longest running events in the history of the WWE. Now to celebrate the occasion, the company had announced a stacked card for the show.

Four champions vs champions matches will be held on the show with the two traditional tag team matches with superstars from Raw and Smackdown competing in it.

The lineups for the match is star-studded considering the huge names like Kurt Angle, John Cena, Shane McMahon and Triple H participating in it. Some fans are already considered it to be the biggest lineup in the history of Survivor Series. The match is certainly expected to over-deliver.

We should also note that Kurt Angle’s job as the Raw General Manager would be on the line in this match. If he fails to lead team Red to victory, then Stephanie McMahon would find a new show-runner in the future. Last year, the Raw roster came up short and so she can’t afford another humiliating loss from his brother.

Triple H is also set to participate in the match which indicates that all hell is about to break loose in this matchup. So, the show might see an overrun on the WWE Network. The reports from cagesideseats.com suggested that Survivor Series might run more than five hours long as a PPV with huge implications attached to it.

Generally, the kick-off show remains on the air for two hours long in a dual brand PPV event with the main show for four hours long making it a total of six hours long program. If the main show keeps on running for five hours, then the entire show will continue for seven long hours setting a new record.

The source clarified that the five hours would be counted excluding the kick-off show. The officials want to give enough time on each of the matchups with everyone’s entrance music being intact. With so many appearances in reserve, it will take a long time to host the entire show. Check out the statements from the source:

“It’s expected Survivor Series will have a lot of overrun, as WWE plans to give everyone plenty of time. With so many entrances, they could end up running close to 5 hours just for the pay-per-view portion.”
