WWE News: The Company Brings Back the Starrcade Event after 17 Years 1

The tradition of WWE bringing back the older PPV gimmicks is continuing. At this time, the company announced that a WCW event would be taken back into the schedule. It will be the Starrcade event that will be returning on the WWE Network after 30 long years in its home.

This particular PPV was considered to be something similar to that of WWE’s version of Wrestlemania. The confirmation was made on WWE’s twitter handle after which we got the details of the upcoming show on WWE.com. The event will be an exclusive one for the Smackdown Live brand. It will take place on November 25th at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Check out the updates from the official website from the WWE, here:

“Starrcade is back, and for the first time in 30 years, it’s coming home. On Saturday, Nov. 25, during Thanksgiving weekend, Starrcade returns when the Superstars of SmackDown LIVE descend on Greensboro, N.C., for a historic event at the Greensboro Coliseum.

As the calendar turned to the 1990s, a new generation of competitors emerged to take the Starrcade spotlight, like Sting, Vader, and the nWo. The last edition of Starrcade under the WCW banner took place in December 2000.
Now, fans in Greensboro will get the opportunity to be a part of history, as Starrcade returns with an absolutely stacked card featuring two Steel Cage Matches.”

Here is the full match card of the returning Starrcade event as announced by WWE:

WWE Championship Steel Cage Match

Jinder Mahal vs Shinsuke Nakamura

SmackDown Women’s Championship Steel Cage Match

Natalya vs Charlotte Flair

United States Championship Triple Threat Match

AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin vs Rusev

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Texas Tornado Match

The New Day vs The Usos

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens

Bobby Roode vs Dolph Ziggler

Breezango vs Aiden English & Mike Kanellis w/ Maria Kanellis

Apart from these matches, The Hardy Boyz has also been added to the match card in their home state of North Carolina. Legends of Starrcade, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express have else been confirmed to appear on the show.

There’s no confirmation whether this will be conducted as a separate PPV from Smackdown Live. Considering that Survivor Series PPV is already scheduled to take place just six days before the event, chances of the same are quite low. Rather, it is going to be a WWE Network special event from the blue brand.
