This week’s Smackdown kicked off with Paige from Baltimore, Maryland. We already have been notified about the qualifier matches to be held on the show. The GM once again reminded us of those contests and announced that one of them will take place, right there. So, the opening contest featured the same two guys from last week. It was The Miz and Jeff Hardy battling it out for the spot at MITB 2018 men’s division ladder match.

This is fresh feud getting started for the US title which is why the audience was excited to see it. Furthermore, The Miz, himself has the capability to garner attention towards him with ease.

The contest started with routine trade-offs between the two participants. Jeff kept The Miz down, first with a shoulder block. He went to finish the contest, as quick as possible. So, he went for a Swanton Bomb, right away. But, the former IC champ rolled out of the horn’s way.

Jeff Hardy continued to punish his opponent with his quick moves like a combination of an atomic drop followed up with a drop-kick. More interestingly, the high-flyer even hit the Twist of fate on the A-lister but he rolled out of the ring, once again. So, Jeff could not capitalize by hooking the leg of The Miz.

Later, getting him back into the ring Jeff connected with the Whisper in Wind. Then he set up his opponent for a Swanton Bomb. But, he was unable to hit it with the full effect which still left The Miz with something in him. So, he stole the victory with a simple roll-up defeating the current US Champion.

As a result, The Miz will go into the match that led him once to the Wrestlemania main event picture. WWE.com gave credits to the Miz for earning his shot at the upcoming ladder match,

“The A-Lister holds the distinction of capturing the Money in the Bank contract in 2010, which he cashed in on Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship. He did it before, and he can definitely do it again because the outspoken Superstar knows how to win, and he’ll be motivated to get back on the path to championship glory after failing to reclaim the Intercontinental Title from Seth Rollins at WWE Backlash.”

As you can see, the heel superstar is quite favorable to win the scheduled match in MITB on June 17th. This is his type of match where he can use his tactics to earn the coveted briefcase hanging high above the ring. We will look forward whether he gets success, this time or not.
