WWE News: The New Day Opens Up On a Possibility of Becoming Heels 1

The pro-wrestling industry is all about constant changes to entertain the fans, as they starve to get something new, everyone now and then.

This is why we see gimmicks changing around the superstars on a constant basis. Owing to this reason, a superstar also remains babyface or transitions into a heel character, as per the requirement of the creative team.

But, there’re some pre-determined factors while making this changes. If someone is the most popular one in the company or sells out a lot of merchandises, it’s hard for the company to make him a villain, as this could affect the business perspective.

The best example for this is John Cena who was said to be turning into a heel on numerous occasions in his career, but that actually did not happen with Vince McMahon not allowing it keeping business in mind.

The same can be said for The New Day faction who is undoubtedly one of the most popular figures around the world amongst the WWE fans. Being the top-most babyfaces on the roster, their merchandises consist of varieties of items which always keep on selling at a good rate on WWEShop.com. This is the most likely reason as of why the group has not turned into heels.

Once they have lost their titles following the longest reigning run of 483 days, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio hinted a heel run for them which would have brought a new feel to their characters and also help to build up new matches in the tag division.

But, that planning was cancelled by the creative team since they did not want to pull the trigger on the famous trio who is much beloved among the young fans. So, the chances are pretty less for the same as stated by Big E in an interview with The Wrap,

“Tempting as it may be in the writers’ room, I really don’t know if being heel is gonna be in the cards anytime soon.”

The group had a strong run, as the heels during 2014. So, keeping that in mind, the muscle of the New Day faction did not oppose the idea of becoming heels, though,

“I feel like we have a lot left to offer in terms of different varieties or different incarnations of The New Day. You never know in 6 months how people are gonna feel.”
