WWE News: Three Big Match ups Revealed For A Special Smackdown Live Episode In June 1

WWE will return to New Orleans, Louisiana, next month. On June 13th, they will conduct an episode of Smackdown Live. It will be just two weeks prior to the 2017 edition of the Money in the Bank PPV.

Since WWE has pretty big memories in the city, they are willing to arrange some special matches on that night.

All the matches announced for the contests will be rematches from the Backlash PPV. The rematch for the WWE championship between Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal will take place. The United States championship will be up for grabs, as the champion Kevin Owens will defend it against, AJ Styles.

Plus, Shinsuke Nakamura might make his Smackdown in-ring debut against Dolph Ziggler on that night. The Artist has not performed in any of the episodes of Smackdown Live, till date.

With all of these PPV-caliber matches, it is going to be a huge edition of the show. In one of the rare occasions in recent times, all of these matches will be put together on the same show in order to pull up the ratings. As per updates from the WWE.com,

“New Orleans has witnessed some of the biggest moments in WWE history. Even more of those epic moments in time will be created when SmackDown LIVE comes to The Big Easy on June 13, the last WWE event in New Orleans before WrestleMania 34.

The WWE Universe in The Big Easy will witness a huge spectacle, featuring a triple main event with Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal battling for the WWE Championship, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles clashing for the United States Title and Shinsuke Nakamura taking on Dolph Ziggler in a WWE Backlash rematch.”

WWE has always wanted to give the fans of New Orleans, something special and this time will be no different. The stakes for the city will be even higher considering the fact that next year this city will host the mega event of Wrestlemania 34.

Four years ago, on this show, it was Brock Lesnar who conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. It is also the city where Stone Cold Steve Austin has won his record third Royal Rumble match.

Plus, the show-runners might be very concerned about the low tv ratings, consecutively. On the same week, Brock Lesnar will make his return to Monday Night Raw. So, the brand is leaving no stones unturned for giving a tough fight to the flagship show.
