WWE News: Titus O’Neil Issued Statement on Hulk Hogan Return
Hulk Hogan has become a polarizing superstar in the pro-wrestling business ever since the racial scandal broke out. He was always a respected guy around the scene being the cornerstone of this business.
But the scene changed after that leaked video footage in 2015. It witnessed him delivering some racial slurs to a black lady.
WWE immediately fired him from the company once that broke out around the internet. Plus, he was not the same amongst the black superstars of this business. Numerous superstars did not see him as the legend that he used to be, previously. The status remained the same even after he won the lawsuit and got rid of the accusations.
WWE never was in a hurried state to take him back under the wings. They did know that the reinstate of Hulk Hogan can cause some serious backlash amongst the superstars, especially among the black superstars. A similar incident happened when the moment finally arrived at Extreme Rules. We had earlier reported that it was the show where WWE brought back their former franchise player onboard.
Obviously, not all the superstars were happy to see this guy around the locker room. One of them was Titus O’Neil. Numerous reports started to fly on the internet suggesting that the leader of the Titus Worldwide brand was unhappy to see Hulk Hogan. In fact, he was so angry that he left Pittsburgh just after seeing the legend back.
Titus came up with a clarification on the social media about this incident. He completely opposed the idea of leaving the building the building due to the presence of Hulk Hogan. Instead, he mentioned the fact that WWE did not book him in any TV segment on that evening. So there’s no fact to the reports from the internet.
Rather, the former tag team champion stated he has no problems with Hulk Hogan coming back to the company. It is entirely the company’s decision and it does not affect his life, anyway. He also discarded the question of ingenuity in the apology given by The Immortal One at the Extreme Rules event. Here are some of the excerpts from the statement of Titus,
“To my gracious fans and the WWE Universe.
The reports and rumours concerning my boycotting “Extreme Rules” in Pittsburgh is false and inaccurate. I was not scheduled to attend or be a participant in the “Extreme Rules” match/production and was otherwise not booked for the show.
The talent present in Pittsburgh, which I was a part of, was asked to attend a mandatory meeting in which Mr Terry Bollea addressed everyone and informed the same that he would be reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame. At no point during, after or otherwise did I make a scene concerning Mr Bollea’s communication to the talent. In addition, let it be known that I did not refuse to shake Mr Bollea’s hand; we did not have any type of one-on-one interaction whatsoever that would or did necessitate any exchange between us individually.”
The New Day is also the one group that also made some comments about the comeback of Hulk Hogan in the company. The popular faction in the WWE did not show any frustration about the return, either.
Hopefully, the veteran superstar can find his way back into the TV screen in the near future if no further backlash happens.
