WWE News: Twitter Reacts After WWE Announces A PPV Named Great Balls Of Fire 1

A plethora of rumours was running rampant regarding WWE PPV’s schedule in the month of July. The Battleground PPV was confirmed from Smackdown, whereas, Raw was yet to announce a PPV from their side.

Keeping WWE’s tradition in mind for the last couple of years, it was expected that the company will include an older PPV on the slot. They have witnessed success with the Backlash and No Mercy PPV, previously.

But, instead, they came up with a brand new event on 9th July 2017. It will be the first annual Great Balls of Fire on that night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It was not confirmed whether it will be a Raw or Smackdown-exclusive PPV.

But, with the listing available on the official website, it is clear that the flagship show will be the host to the event. Several Raw superstars like Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and more have been advertised for the event. The venue of the event released the following video to promote the night.

Meanwhile, the sources suggest that it will mark the first title defence for the beast incarnate, Brock Lesnar. The Universal championship has not been defended since Wrestlemania 33.

No indication was given about his opponent. But, going by the recent speculations, Braun Strowman is going to be the one to claim his shot for the title.

Previously, the reports suggested that WWE will be conducting the Bad Blood PPV from Raw in the month of July. It was supposed to be the third Raw-exclusive PPV after Wrestlemania from the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. With this announcement coming up, it is clear that the plan has been drastically changed.
