Before this week’s WWE Raw, enough speculations were going around its success. It was the final episode before the No Mercy PPV which is bound to be a historical one with two huge main events. But, quite surprisingly, two main characters from those matches were not present on the show. It was supposed to affect the flagship show to a certain extent.
The ticket sales before the San Jose show was kind of poor owing to this reason. So, we doubted whether the officials would be able to pull off a successful final buildup to the brand exclusive PPV or not.
Brock Lesnar was not present in San Jose to lead to a build up for the Universal title match and only appeared via satellite for an interview. It allowed his opponent, Braun Strowman to pick up some more momentum going into the match, as he laid waste to Enzo Amore who received a brutal beatdown.
On the other hand, John Cena was not present on WWE Raw, as reported earlier. He was present in China with the Smackdown roster and hence was unable to be present on the show. Roman Reigns cut a promo in his absence to give a strong statement. It will give him a momentum heading into the historic match at No Mercy.
Overall, this was a weak go home show. The build leading up to #NoMercy was so good, the bar may have been set too high for this episode.

The show witnessed the hometown favourite Bayley’s return which also saw a big appreciation from the crowd. It was another reason for the crowd’s joy who got a mark-out moment. Plus, the center of attraction was The Miz and his Intercontinental championship in the absence of Lesnar and Cena.
We have received a number one contender for his title and a pretty big matchup at No Mercy. Overall, it was a pretty good show to which the social media reacted:
