Last night’s WWE Raw turned out to be an entertaining one with an out-and-out stacked card. Multiple returns were there on the show with the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, Hulk Hogan and Alexa Bliss. We have received a new number one contender for the WWE Raw women’s championship at Royal Rumble. Furthermore, two of the titles were also on the line on the show.
The first title match took place over the WWE Raw tag team championships. The Revival (Dash Wilder-Scott Dawson) challenged Bobby Roode and Chad Gable in a rematch from two weeks ago. The Revival has been heating themselves up for a future solid title run with the help of the WWE bookers. Unfortunately, they failed to pick up the gold, last night.
Dash and Dawson controlled the match on WWE Raw for the better part before Roode entered the scene. He gave an exploder suplex each to the members of the Revival to counter. Roode and Gable connected with a blockbuster / German suplex combo but Wilder broke the pinfall. Wilder hit a diving splash on Roode for a near fall. Roode rolled up Dawson to get the win when his foot was clearly on the ropes. The champions might have retained but this controversial end will surely set up another rematch.
Seth Rollins pinned Dean Ambrose in the opening contest of WWE Raw which was a six-man tag team match. So he demanded a title opportunity at the main event of the show. Triple H sanctioned the match with an added stipulation. It was declared as a Falls Count Anywhere match. It was after a long time that we have seen such a match on the flagship show.
Rollins attacked Ambrose before the match began on WWE Raw. They battled each other at the ramp area before entering the ring as the bell rang. The fight soon broke outside the ring where Ambrose dodged a powerbomb lift and countered with an overhead elbow. Seth Rollins threw Ambrose into the barricade for a near fall. But the champions came back trying to hit the Dirty Deeds on the concrete floor.
Eventually, Seth Rollins came back into the contest with his pendant Falcon Arrow followed by the Stomp. But Bobby Lashley entered the scene hitting Rollins with a gutwrench converted into the Yokosuka Cutter. A spear followed handing over the championship retention to Dean Ambrose. Lashley concluded the night by slamming Seth Rollins through a table.
