The Money in the Bank PPV will make its return to the WWE calendar now that Backlash is over. It is going to be the second PPV following the biggest event of the year. The first one was WWE Backlash on this past Sunday, whereas, the exciting ladder match will be hosted in June.
This particular PPV is always something much exciting for the concept. Multiple superstars get a chance to compete at the Money in the Bank match to grab the briefcase that hangs high above the ring. Superstars can use ladders which is the only way to reach the top and grab the hanging equipment.
Last year, the stakes of this particular match were made even higher with the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder contest. Five women competed in it to make history. This year, the PPV will return grandly with both the brand participating in this match. As reported earlier, all the PPV events starting from Wrestlemania will be co-branded.
Recently, the venue of the event has given updates on the PPV. The host, the All-State Arena in Chicago, Illinois started advertising to make the would a sellout. According to them, there will be two Money in the Bank ladder matches on June 16th. This announcement confirmed that the women’s division matchup got retained in the card.
Furthermore, last night, Kurt Angle addressed the situation and confirmed that it’s indeed happening. The first look of the women’s MITB briefcase was also revealed which was pink in colour.
Furthermore, lucky superstars from both Raw and Smackdown Live will get a lifetime opportunity to change their career by grabbing the briefcase. But, it is yet to be learned whether the cash-in can happen on both Raw and Smackdown crossing the brand barriers. Also, this is for the first time since 2016 that both the brand will participate in this event.
Last year, the Smackdown brand hosted this particular event where the officials had a tougher job to fill up the match card. Due to this, it was speculated that Money in the Bank would be the fifth dual brand PPV, this year until WWE officially declared that there will not be any brand-specific PPV events starting from Wrestlemania.
WWE is likely to host this exciting night of the year in a bigger way. An additional NXT Takeover: Chicago event has been confirmed to take place at that weekend to make things special for the fans.
