WWE News: Two More Smackdown Names Advanced To WWE World Cup Tournament 1

WWE announced a world cup tournament for the Crown Jewel PPV. This is the first time ever that the company has come up with such a concept. The theme of this world cup tournament would adjust to the theme of global PPV event. There will be multiple globally acclaimed athlete competing for the inaugural cup.

WWE Raw already confirmed two big names to appear at this world cup tournament from their side. John Cena entered the fray courtesy of her career accolades. On the other hand, Kurt Angle was the second name to join him on this week’s WWE Raw. He won the battle royal hosted on the show by appearing in it in a surprising manner.

Over on Smackdown, we received two huge returns for the world cup tournament qualifiers. Big Show returned to compete against his long-time rival, Randy Orton. In the second match on Smackdown, Jeff Hardy returned to take on against Samoa Joe. He returned after a break following Hell in a Cell.

Jeff Hardy took control of the match from the early going as he targeted the legs of Samoa Joe. Joe tried to fight back on each of the occasions but received counter attacks from Hardy. The high-flyer pulled off an atomic drop to gain further momentums in this match.

The Charismatic Enigma continued with his relentless attack as if he was a different person altogether from Hell in a Cell onwards. Samoa Joe hit his injured leg into the steel steps to hurt it in a bad way. This left the referee with no further choice but to call the match off. He declared that Samoa Joe was in no condition to compete. So Jeff Hardy became the third man to enter the World Cup tournament.

The next match between Randy Orton and Big Show turned out to be the main event of Smackdown. The Viper was in full control of the match hitting a DDT early in the match. The Giant came back into the contest hitting a big clothesline. He also followed it up with a big spear. But Randy Orton proved to be dominant than ever.

Once the fight went outside the ring, he caught Big Show with another DDT off the ring. He evaded a Knock-Out punch from his opponent and poked into his eyes. This allowed him to hit an RKO on The World’s Largest Athlete for the win. This earned Orton the fourth spot at the World Cup Tournament at the Crown Jewel PPV.
