During the WWE Draft, we did not get to know what the Undertaker’s status was and from which brand he will belong from then on. Since he appeared on Smackdown Live during the 900th episode of the show, we speculated that he might be appearing from the blue brand. However, he resurfaced on Monday Night Raw on January 9 to announce his Royal Rumble entry at this year’s edition. This further fuelled up the speculations that he will belong to flagship show from now on.
Previously, the rumor mill suggested that either AJ Styles or John Cena will be his opponent at Wrestlemania. However, if the recent reports turn out to be true then he is all set to face a superstar from Monday Night Raw at his home-turf. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed the possibility.
The veteran wrestling journalist stated that the Undertaker is scheduled to face a Raw superstar. However, he suggested that it is not going to be Braun Strowman. He also wiped out the chances of AJ Styles or John Cena as his opponent at this year’s Mania. This certainly increased the chances of getting a Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker at the grandest stage. So far we almost have these confirmed matches at the Wrestlemania match card:
Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg
Seth Rollins vs. Triple H
Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens
Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal
As per the rumor mill, the Undertaker is the most favorite to win this year’s Royal Rumble match. The creative wants him to enter this year’s edition for the sole reason to win it and go on to the main event of Wrestlemania. Roman Reigns is supposed to be the Universal Champion heading into the biggest stage and the Phenome might challenge him to set up this money match.
Vince McMahon is heavily backing up the idea since this might be the very last time, we will see the Deadman performing at Wrestlemania. Plus, it will also do a huge favor to the future of the next franchise of the company.
