WWE News: United States champion Kalisto injured and removed from event

With just a few days prior to WWE Extreme Rules, pay-per-view, WWE has announced on its official website that one of its champion who is set to defend his title on Sunday, got injured and will not be seen on this week’s WWE Smackdown tapings. He is also supposedly missing out the live events of this week.
United States champion Kalisto has suffered a back and muscle injury as per the reports of following the attack of the Bulgarian Brute’s attack on him on Monday Night Raw. Here’s the official statement on
“Due to injuries sustained at the hands of Rusev on Raw, United States Champion Kalisto is unable to compete on this week’s SmackDown, has learned. WWE medical staff confirmed that Kalisto suffered a strained intercostal muscle and Erectus spinal muscle, attributed to Rusev’s Accolade submission maneuver.
Despite his injuries, Kalisto is still planning on defending his U.S. Title against The Super Athlete this Sunday at Extreme Rules.”

With the statement coming in a very unusual manner and Kalisto to be featured in the championship match at Extreme Rules PPV, the injury is likely to be a kayfabe one but a real possibility of the injury can’t be ruled out to a certain extent where a second wave has started plaguing the roster, as of late.
The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles is suffering from a banged ankle as admitted by him, and a back injury. The back injury has plagued him since his Ring of Honor days and in worse condition than he admits. Enzo Amore is sidelined as he injured his neck when his head stuck between the middle and the bottom rope which further bounced when he landed outside the ring. Lastly, WWE Diva Emma who was set to get a huge push got injured at a live event and scheduled for a surgery on this Wednesday.
