WWE News: Update On Chris Jericho’s Future In The Company 1

In case, you don’t know, Chris Jericho had already returned to the WWE as part of the WWE live events in the eastern region by the end of June. He was advertised for the events held in Singapore and Japan for a long time. After concluding the tour with his music band, Fozzy, he returned with a one-off stint for the house show purposes, exclusively before his comeback on Smackdown Live.

On those live events, Chris Jericho faced Finn Balor, one night and the NXT Superstar, Hideo Itami on the other night. The future WWE Hall of Famer had high praises for Itami, who is a local veteran wrestler. He noted it to the fans that the NXT Superstar is highly talented in order to put him over.

It was thought that he would not be back on live television and might stick to attending only the live events conducted by the WWE. However, that did not turn out to be the case as he is back on Smackdown Live. Although he was unsuccessful at capturing the United States title, the crowd gave a standing ovation to the GOAT.

This raised the curiosity among the fans regarding his upcoming schedule in the company. Previous reports had suggested that he will be busy doing more shows with his band Fozzy causing absence from the pro-wrestling circuit.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted the same on his recent reports suggesting that Chris Jericho is not supposed to stick around for a long time during this stint. His schedule with Fozzy is still intact in the month of October and November and so he is likely to be out, sooner. Check out his comments, here:

“I’m not sure what his schedule is right now. I mean, he’s not advertised or listed for any shows going forward, but the reaction was certainly like he’s back. I know he’s still got concert stuff coming up, but aside from that, I don’t know if he’s got anything until September”

It is likely that Y2J was brought back to add some more star power to the match card of Summerslam PPV. As indicated by Meltzer, he might continue to perform even in September but there’s no surety of him remaining with the WWE, after that. Announcements regarding his future appearances are likely to be made in near future.
