WWE News: Update about John Cena’s absence from WWE mid-October onwards 1

Prior to the dream match at Summerslam, reports already suggested that John Cena will end up losing the dream match against AJ Styles. The reason behind this was for filming the season of the American Grit on the Fox Network. We did not know the proper timing of Cena’s hiatus for the show’s shooting and thought that Summerslam would mark the same.
He would not show up on the main shows of Smackdown. However, he kept making appearances for some houses shows and the dark segments that took place after Raw and Smackdown went off the air. He was also travelling with WWE for its house shows around the world and returned once the Backlash PPV was over.
Latest reports confirm that Cena will soon go on to take a hiatus from WWE for almost three long months. Just like the previous year, Cena will take a sabbatical for filming the second season of American Grit television show. Last year, this time around Cena was the United States champion and gave up his title to returning Alberto Del Rio for the same purpose.
As per his current appearance schedule goes, he will be appearing last on SmackDown Live on Tuesday, 11 October at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA. This will be the next episode of No Mercy PPV from which WWE will start the build up for the next big PPV, Survivor Series.

Cena will not show up in any of the Smackdown or the house shows until this year’s end. He is expected to return once the holiday season around Christmas starts. Interestingly, though, the Survivor Series PPV in November still features his name which indicates that he may make a surprise appearance at the last big PPV of the year which will take place in Toronto, Canada.
Since, the franchise player of the company is taking another time-off, he is not expected to win his record 16th world title at the No Mercy PPV.
