WWE News: Update on Booker T Appearing on Smackdown Live in Toronto 1

Both WWE Raw and Smackdown had solid outing from Toronto on this past week. The weekly shows of the WWE started on a good note following Summerslam PPV. TV ratings received a significant boost with Roman Reigns winning the Universal title and The Shield reuniting. Smackdown was also excellent with a heel-turned, Becky Lynch who’s been under the spotlight, recently.

The follow-ups were even more prominent on the Toronto-edition of Smackdown Live with Booker T in the house. There are only a few superstars as entertaining as him. His mic skills are still as excellent as it used to be in his heyday. The creative team let him enjoy the moments with none other than The New Day.

It happened on the opening segment of Smackdown where the trio had a lot of fun with Booker T. The WWE Hall of Famer inducted them to the five-time championship club in a way only he can. He is a five-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, whereas, The New Day has now become five-time champs, too. They gave a great start to Smackdown from Toronto, Canada.

Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful.com gave an update on the return of Booker T on the blue brand. Most of the members on the roster knew about his presence at the backstage.

In fact, the news was out that he would be present during the opening segment on Smackdown Live. It was quite the opposite to the surprise return of Trish Stratus on WWE Raw. Here are the updates from the source,

“Booker T’s appearance on WWE Smackdown Live wasn’t exactly a closely guarded secret like Trish Stratus’ was. From what I was told, Booker T was around backstage ahead of the show, and many knew that he was going to be involved in the opening angle. I was also told that WWE hoped to leave Toronto with a couple of memorable shows that would make the market hungry for Summerslam weekend next year.”

Booker T has become a frequent face on WWE programming for quite sometimes. He was previously part of the commentary panel for a long time.

Later, WWE brought him to the kick-off panel for each of the PPV events. We see him analysing things before these WWE Network specials begin every month. So his appearance on Toronto Smackdown was not an utter surprise.
