Mike and Maria Kanellis debuted on WWE TV back in last year’s June. They were out of the Impact Wrestling promotion back in the Wrestlemania 33 season and signed a contract with the WWE.
Once the biggest event of the year passed by, they were brought to Smackdown Live as a real-life couple who were deeply in love.
The ‘power of love’ gimmick was attached to them which was supposed to give them a huge momentum on the blue brand. In reality, it turned out to be opposite. They managed to pick up the much negative reactions from the crowd especially on Mike who digested bad reactions due to his body conditions.
He was not looking in good shape while wrestling inside the squared circle. The officials were not happy with him, as well owing to which the supposed push towards the ‘Miracle’ Mike came to an abrupt end. He turned into a role of a jobber, slowly and later got moved from the TV programming, altogether.

Another reason for his removal was Maria Kanellis becoming a pregnant woman who stopped attending WWE shows. Previously, she was supposed to be the sole reason behind Mike’s momentum which was there no more. Due to all of these, some of the WWE fans thought that WWE might have given up on Mike Kanellis.
But, in reality, he is very much active on the roster performing in the live events and dark matches on a regular basis. As per the updates from his social media, he is putting up efforts to be back in good shape so that the officials take him back on TV programming.
In a recent picture from Sacramento, California Live Event, it was seen that he had grown abs which is a good indication of his health. It is to be noted he was dealing with drug issues in the recent past which was another reason for backstage heat on this young talent.

Hopefully, Maria Kanellis will be back once she gave birth to the little one who is due in this spring.
This could also mark the return of the so-called ‘first couple’ of the WWE in due course in a dominant fashion.
