WWE News: Update On Roman Reigns’ Replacement On WWE Raw 1

Scenarios of WWE Raw turned upside down on this week’s episode from Providence, Rhode Island. The Shield exists no more as Dean Ambrose betrayed Seth Rollins to turn heel, finally. But even more importantly, the carrier of the brand is not around the show, anymore. Roman Reigns vacated the Universal Championship announcing his battle with leukemia.

Roman Reigns has a tough battle to fight for in real life by spending time with his family. Thankfully for him, the pro-wrestling community stands together in his tough time showing support. Hopefully, this would give him the needed strength to overcome the odds as early as possible. But still, it would require a lengthy timespan to get rid of the life-threatening disease.

Well, this has given a major headache to the WWE officials. Roman Reigns was the marquee name of the WWE Raw brand who used to sell out shows on a daily basis. He was the franchise player of the company meaning that WWE has to find a newer name as a replacement. But it is a tough task for the WWE considering how bigger name he was.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter published a report claiming that the search is on for a new poster boy. Roman Reigns should return at one point to fulfill the left space. So it would be a name to take his rightful place just ‘for the time being’.

AJ Styles does not fit into this category due to his growing age. So there’s a backup name in the officials’ mind. Here are the reports from the source, (via wwfoldschool.com)

“According to the Wrestling Observer, many top WWE stars don’t tick all the boxes that WWE wants their #1 guy to be. WWE Champion AJ Styles is too old to be in that spot and various other guys don’t fulfill what they want in ‘THE Guy’. It was then noted that the long-term plan for Drew McIntyre is to be a babyface and he’s one guy that ticks all the boxes. He’s young, he can wrestle, he can talk, he has the look.”

But Drew McIntyre is a bonafide heel on the WWE Raw roster. His babyface transition would require a lot of times. So the automatic choice would be none other than Braun Strowman, for now. This is the reason why the creative team already turned him into a face on this past edition of the show. People are more than over with his character. Hence he is an automatic choice.

In fact, Braun Strowman is someone who could be babyface or heel whenever needed. So the resident monster will carry the load from now onwards on WWE Raw. He is the favorite one to win the Universal Championship at this time at Crown Jewel. This will help him to transform in the new role of the franchise player.
