WWE: Update on Sunday’s Dual Brand PPV, Backlash on WWE Network

The WWE Network subscribers should be happier, right now since they are getting numerous special events, back to back.

Last month, for the new subscribers, Wrestlemania 34 was free, whereas, they got to see an additional extravaganza known as Greatest Royal Rumble from Saudi Arabia. But, the fun is even getting bigger for them starting from this Sunday Night with Backlash.

For the first time since November 2013, WWE is presenting us with a dual brand PPV except for the usual ‘big-four’ events (Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble). Following the brand split, WWE started the tradition of hosting brand-specific PPV events apart from these four events. This norm is getting extinct from the schedule.

WWE promises even bigger things for the PPV viewers. Hence, they are bringing both the roster members from Raw and Smackdown under one roof starting from May 6th. The host of the event will be the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Some additional details have been disclosed about Backlash by wrestlingINC.com.

Previous speculations were that Backlash would be running for more than four hours. It is due to the inclusion of both the brand performers competing in the show. But, the source confirmed the main show will still be kept intact within a three-hour capacity.

But, there will be an additional one-hour by the kick-off show. WWE has confirmed that there will be one match on this pre-show. Till date, the match has not been notified to us. It is likely any random match, or the Cruiserweight Championship will get added to this slot.

The PPV will get started from 7 PM ET, and now, we are confirmed to get a post-PPV analysis show, as well,

“The pay-per-view is scheduled to run 3 hours from 8 pm EST – 11 pm EST. WWE has now announced a Backlash post-show for Sunday night at 11 pm EST. It’s currently scheduled to run until 11:30 pm EST, right up to the Backlash replay.”

The potential main event of the night is going to be the match between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe. In the absence of Brock Lesnar, the WWE Championship will be the prime title to be defended on the night.

Also, the mid-card and women’s division titles will also be on the line at Backlash PPV.
