WWE reinvented the Cruiserweight division back in 2016. Two years ago, the company hosted a WWE network exclusive tournament for them.
Several competitors around the world joined this tournament to perform and have a lifetime experience. Some of them were able to grab WWE contract following the show.
WWE started a new brand featuring all of them naming 205 Live. All the superstar in this brand weighs under 205 pounds. It airs on the WWE Network on every Tuesday Night. The live show takes place at the same venue where Smackdown Live takes place.
The initial feedback for the show was quite well. Names like TJP, Bryan Kendrick, Austin Aries and Neville elevated this division to the next level. These Cruiserweights come up with electrifying actions on each night. They were so good that WWE Raw allowed to perform them on Monday Nights. But that came to an abrupt halt from last year onwards.
The Cruiserweight division faced some problems starting from 2017 fall. The so-called King of Cruiserweight, Neville walked out of the brand due to backstage problems. WWE tried to make up his presence with Enzo Amore who did a decent job. But he got involved in a sexual assault case in January 2018. It forced the WWE officials to terminate his WWE contract.
Vince McMahon was furious on the Cruiserweights after this incident. He wanted to cancel the show, right away. The same rumours are flying till date claiming WWE officials might be thinking of stopping the show. The 205 Live show will be no more following Smackdown Live if that happens.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com wiped out that chances for now. He claimed that nothing such is on the card. WWE 205 Live will continue to represent the Cruiserweight division. The officials also want the United Kingdom division to have their brand in the near future.
The source should be right considering that Triple H is the main creative head for the Cruiserweight division. He is in full control instead of Vince McMahon for the 205 Live show.
We expect the show to get back the lost capability under his guidance. He is focusing on their athletic ability currently rather than on the storyline perspective.
