Hardy Boyz had a good run ever since coming to the WWE in 2017. They instantly won back the tag team championships after showing up at Wrestlemania. Matt Hardy delivered a dream feud against Bray Wyatt prior to Wrestlemania 34. On the other hand, Jeff Hardy moved to the Smackdown brand to have a singles run.
Matt Hardy wants a match with Roman Reigns
It fulfilled the career Grand Slam milestone for him in the WWE. From 2018 onwards, their career graph went towards a little bit of downward direction. Injuries are one of the reasons for sure. These two have been battling in dangerous environments for over two decades. So their body would give up at one point.
Jeff Hardy’s view on retirement
Especially, WWE’s hectic schedule could affect the Hardy Boyz to the maximum extent. Staying on the road for a long time of the year is not at all good for their body. This could be on sod the reasons why they might leave once their existing contract expires. With Wrestlemania on the verge, rumors are running rampant whether there’s a chance or not.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter has issued a report on the Hardy Boyz contract. He revealed that their current deal might expire in April just after Wrestlemania 35 gets over. However, they are not intending to leave anytime soon. Chances are high that they will renew their contracts to stay within the banner of WWE.
Even if the Hardy Boyz move away from the wrestling stuff, WWE may use these two in other positions. There have been speculations that both Matt and Jeff will play a significant role as backstage producers. Or even their experience can play a big role to train the emerging talents at the WWE Performance Center.
Here’s more on Hardy Boyz extending their contract courtesy of SportsKeeda.com,
“The one-year extension comes with a solid rise in pay and should be enough to keep AEW scouts at bay. WWE may be well aware of Cody Rhodes and co. wanting to rekindle the Young Bucks/ Hardy Boyz rivalry and will do anything to keep the legendary tag team on their payroll for the foreseeable future.”
Both the Hardy Boyz are quite familiar with the AEW heads as they have competed with each other before. However, Matt Hardy may be on the verge of retirement due to a sensitive spinal injury. So he might not be looking forward to doing anything new when it comes to in-ring competition. He will rather choose to stay in a safe zone in this company which is the best in his view.
