Shane McMahon is the commissioner of Smackdown Live. He is not an exclusive authority figure at backstage in the WWE. His role is unlike any other of the McMahon family members who are all part of the creative team.
He is just a talent used for the Smackdown Live brand. He also performs on special occasions to sell out the PPV events.
We have seen him performing at the bygone edition of Wrestlemania. Shane McMahon was able to defeat the heel duo of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn teaming up with Daniel Bryan. He might have done it in a concussed state, however.
The Prodigal Son was dealing with hernia problems before the biggest event of the year. There were confusions whether he would be able to be fit in time for the ‘show of shows.’ He delivered a blockbuster match overcoming the odds showing tremendous resiliency. His body gave up after that.
Shane McMahon had to undergo hernia surgery in recent times going by of WWE.com,
“Smackdown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon underwent successful hernia surgery last Friday in New York, N.Y. McMahon is currently resting at home, but he’s feeling well and is excited to get back to work on Smackdown LIVE.”
It is clear that Shane-o-mac is incompetent for now. The WWE Universe continues speculating about his potential in-ring comeback. Dave Meltzer talked about this issue in a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. He gave a potential timeline about the next time we could see him in action.
WWE management will not clear him to compete shortly giving that Shane McMahon is dealing with hernia problems. He is on the verge of turning 48 quite soon. So the doctors do not want his problems to get complicated anymore.
We should not expect him to involve in an active storyline until the Summerslam season comes up. The second biggest event of the year in 2018 will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York. The blue brand commissioner has always been a special attraction in the big-four events. He is likely to deliver yet another match at the upcoming show in August.
