WWE News: Update On The Raw Women’s Championship Match At Summerslam 1

The second biggest PPV of 2017 in WWE calendar is approaching towards us. It will be the 30th annual Summerslam PPV to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This year it will take place on August 20th as a dual brand PPV where matches from both Raw and Smackdown will take place.

Now, WWE stores the biggest storylines from the year for this dual brand PPVs. So, quite expectedly, the rule is same for the Raw Women’s division. We can expect the very best match to go down at that event. At present, Alexa Bliss holds the Raw women’s title and also supposed to walk into Summerslam as the champion.

In recent ongoing from WWE Raw, Sasha Banks has become the new number one contender for Bliss’ title. She will challenge the “wicked witch” of the WWE in the title match at the Great Balls of Fire PPV. The Boss has earned the right to the same by winning a Gauntlet match on this past edition of Raw.

Now, as per the previous reports, Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss was originally supposed to take place at Summerslam PPV. But, we are getting it earlier in the month of July since WWE Creative plans to have something different at the August-PPV.

According to the reports from Wrestling Observer Live, Alexa Bliss will successfully defend her championship at the Great Balls of Fire PPV in July. Then she will go forward into a feud against Nia Jax. These two will lock horns for the women’s championship match at Summerslam.

The source also added that following Extreme Rules PPV, WWE has booked some Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax segments, intentionally. This will be used later in order to make the buildup for the Summerslam matchup. Plus, Nia was dominant in the first-ever gauntlet match. She was there from the very beginning eliminating each of the competitors until Sasha made her way and won the bout making her tap out.

The officials also thought of planning a Bayley vs. Sasha Banks feud for Summerslam. But, with the hugger’s lost momentums and neither of them not being attached to the championship picture will not let that happen. We have to wait at least this year’s end to witness the much-anticipated feud between these two NXT rivals.
