WWE Universe was a big fan of the Demon King persona of Finn Balor. It was made infamous by WWE emphasising on this gimmick in his NXT run. After he was called to the main roster, it was thought that WWE might not use it regularly.
But, that was not the case since WWE inserted the character into the storylines, quickly. Balor’s first feud with Seth Rollins witnessed the Demon King making several appearances on the shows. In fact, it was the same the Demon who won the Universal championship at last year’s Summerslam.
Unfortunately, Finn Balor suffered a shoulder injury on that night which kept him out of action for eight long months. He was unable to perform at this year’s Wrestlemania, as well.
Although he made his return the very next night, we are yet to see the best out of Balor, till date. The creative has not reserved any storyline for him upon return forcing him to compete in some random matches. Quite expectedly, we have not seen the Demon back on WWE TV, as well.

Recently, the reports from Dirty Sheets Podcast was able to give some idea on when could we expect to see it back, finally. It stated that the character will be on hold for several weeks from now until the Balor vs. Wyatt feud gets unfolded, gradually.
It is almost confirmed that Balor will get the Eater of the World as his first major opponent upon return once the Payback PPV is done. Apparently, this rivalry will not be for a singles match. Rather, it will be a stretched feud featuring several matches in it. WWE might go with it for the entire summer season if needed.
Considering that Balor will be pitted against a self-claimed monster, a time is bound to come when the Demon King’s presence will be needed. At that point, Balor should re-introduce the demon persona of him.
The source also hinted that Balor would come out as the victor in this one feud. This might pave the way for a championship feud against Brock Lesnar in the time of Summerslam PPV.
