WWE has started to shape up the Money in the Bank PPV event from the past couple of weeks. Now that Backlash turned out to be one of the worst PPV events of the year, expectations are high from MITB.
It’s a rare occasion that WWE fails to deliver a WWE Network special. The matter has become serious since it was the first dual-brand PPV apart from the big four, in a long time. So, MITB has to be a big event so that WWE Network cancellation trend does not start, again.
Speaking of this, we have got multiple such announcements, this week. Three championship matches got announced. Furthermore, the ladder-gimmick MITB match has also started to fill up.
From WWE Raw, four superstars can perform in it. Strowman and Balor were the first two names who have already qualified. Now, Kevin Owens and Bobby Roode have become the new names from the flagship show to join them.
Roode won a triple threat match pinning No Way Jose, whereas, Owens pinned Elias to enter the fray. Three more names from Smackdown joined these four names. Rusev and The Miz already entered the match.
Now, it looks like Big E will be the seventh man in the match. The New Day won the qualifier match on this week’s Smackdown Live. They will choose a name from their faction to compete in the match. Only one more name can compete in it which will be declared on Smackdown. Either Big Cass or Samoa Joe will be the one.
From the women’s MITB match, Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch are the latest inclusions. Bliss won the scheduled qualifier on WWE Raw where Lynch won the triple threat match on Smackdown.
It looks like eight women will compete in the women’s MITB, as well.
So, two women each from the red and blue brand will get opportunities to enter the historic contest. Already, Lana vs Billie Kay has been made official for Smackdown Live for the next slot. We hope to see one such qualifier for them on Raw, too.
