Last week was a roller coaster ride for Smackdown Live. Both, Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles brought their A-game to the TLC PPV. They gave us a 5star rating match on the last PPV of the year from the blue brand. They were pushed to the limit and as a result, the world champion was hurt to a certain extent. This did not allow him to defend his title against James Ellsworth as scheduled on last week’s Smackdown.
Now, the ‘no chin man’ was all over the place starting from the TLC. He was seen costing Ambrose the World title match. Furthermore, he interfered on last week’s main event IC title match again costing Ambrose the title.
With that being said, we were pretty sure to have an Ambrose-Ellsworth rivalry going forward but that might not be the case since Ellsworth is not considered as the worthy opponent for someone main eventer like Ambrose. So going by the main event from last week’s show, Wrestling Observer reported that Dean Ambrose vs. the Miz feud is stored for us.
Going forward to the year 2017, we can count on both of them having a great rivalry over the prestigious Intercontinental Championship. The source also suggested that the main event picture will comprise of AJ Styles and the returning John Cena. The Franchise will straight head into the title picture after his arrival seeking redemption from his bitter rival. Furthermore, he will be hunting his 16th WWE World title to tie Ric Flair’s record.
A heel turn for Dean Ambrose can also be stored in near future. This will only happen if he captures the IC title defeating the Miz, at some point. WWE has already teased the feud between Shane O Mac and Ambrose, in the past. The heel turn will pave the way for having the match at Wrestlemania. We will learn further updates from tonight’s episode of Smackdown, as well.
