Several rumours are going on a potential return of The Rock to the WWE. He is the not only the most significant Hollywood name present around, but also the biggest box-office attraction for the WWE. His one appearance can pull the TV ratings upwards just like that. So the company would be more than happy to welcome him, and Summerslam seems to be the ideal place.
Speculations suggested that Wrestlemania would mark his return next year. But now a portion of the rumour mill hints an unexpected return for The Rock at Summerslam.
This could be the biggest return of this year to make the event successful. WWE might try to go all out for the final Summerslam at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Furthermore, Elias is the one to fuel things up for this return. He called out The Great One in his hometown of Miami, Florida on an episode of Monday Night Raw. Weekly concerts for him have now become a regular thing on the flagship show. So a challenge in the hometown of The Rock looked more significant.
Elias now has his album released on the iTunes. It has become a chartbuster already. So it is not something surprising that WWE might want to put this young talent over using The Rock. After all, he used to host the all-time favourite concerts for the WWE fans during his heyday. So the question remains whether the return is happening or not?
Reports from cagesideseats.com did not sound positive about this. They wiped out any of the chances of The Rock appearing at Summerslam. The franchise player of the company does not consider Elias as a worthy name against him in a match or a segment. So this can’t be a proper comeback for the ‘most electrifying man in all of the entertainment’.
But Elias might continue to host his concerts even at Summerslam in front of the Brooklyn crowd. He did the same even at Wrestlemania too. He might sing a song at the kick-off show or before his match against Bobby Lashley. The Rock could very well be his target so that a future confrontation sets up between these two.
WWE has some historical shows in-store at the later part of 2018. Smackdown will celebrate its 1000th episode, whereas, the Super-Show-Down will take place in Australia. These could very well mark the much-anticipated return of The Rock.
Otherwise, there will be Wrestlemania next year from the same stadium where he was in the main event in 2013.
