We have seen one of the most randomly booked decisions in WWE history on this past episode of Smackdown Live. Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship in an impromptu title match. She became become an 8-time Women’s Champion in the WWE creating an all-time record.

WWE to add a new stipulation to Wrestlemania 35 main event

WWE was able to send the social media into a frenzy following this decision. Speculations started running owing to which such a title altercation happened. One of the opinions among those was that WWE might be changing the Wrestlemania 35 main event. However, a reliable source confirmed that’s not how it’s going to be.

Rumors started running rampant that the already confirmed triple threat match for Wrestlemania 35 may get changed. Asuka would join Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch to make it a fatal-4-way match. However, such speculations are completely out of the box as confirmed by Dave Meltzer or Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The source stated that it is unlikely to happen that Asuka should join the main eventer trio of Wrestlemania 35. Furthermore, WWE has started advertising the 2nd annual women’s battle royal with Asuka into it wiping out all the speculations around the Empress of Tomorrow. She will compete in this over the top rope battle royal.

According to the same source, WWE booked the championship change on Smackdown to have the four Horsewomen of WWE close out WrestleMania 35 as the Champions.

The WrestleMania 35 main event is still set for the RAW Women’s Championship match. Becky Lynch should win that title from Ronda Rousey as per the rumors. Charlotte Flair will remain the SmackDown Women’s Champion whereas The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection (Sasha Banks & Bayley) should retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in a fatal-4-way match.

Wwfoldschool.com spilled out another big reason why the Smackdown women’s title changes hands before Wrestlemania 35. This was due to WWE willing to trim down the match card,

“Another reason for this Title change was to reduce a match for WrestleMania 35, which already has a lengthy match-card. Wrestling Observer noted that Vince McMahon felt it’s not worth having a 17th or 18th match at WrestleMania, so they nixed it. As we noted before, WWE Officials are trying to cut down on the numbers of matches for WrestleMania 35.”
