Mae Young Classic is returning on WWE Network on this fall. Last year, the event witnessed immense success.
The pro-wrestling industry had never seen an all-women show before. So it was a path-breaking show by all means. With that being said, the expectations are more than high for the second edition.
The first competitor of this year’s Mae Young Classic will be Kaitlyn. WWE revealed the former Divas Champion is returning to the company after a hiatus of four years. The lineup will continue to fill up, as 31 more names will join the list. It looks like we have just found out who the next participants of the show would be.
WWE has now confirmed that Rhea Ripley would be the second competitor of Mae Young Classic tournament.
In case you don’t remember, she was part of the first edition, too. So a second chance has been given to her. Furthermore, she will also have to settle the score against one of her colleagues on NXT.
The 5 foot 7 inch Australian is perhaps the strongest contestant in the Mae Young Classic. WWE already gave her the accolade amongst all the trainees in the Performance Center. It makes her one of the favourites of the contest. Plus the fact that she was also part of last year’s tournament should help her a lot.
We should also note that WWE is likely to push the Australian superstars under their banner keeping the MCG show in mind. The upcoming show in October might become even more successful by bringing out even more talents from the country. Ripley should be amongst those names.
Meanwhile, the superstar with a soccer background like Nikki Bella, expressed her excitement to be a part of the upcoming Mae Young Classic. She stormed into the second round by defeating Miranda Salinas with a full-nelson slam before getting victimized by New Zealand’s Dakota Kai. The rivalry is still going on NXT.
Ripley’s hometown newspaper – The Advertiser in Adelaide, South Australia covered their hometown girl participating in this international tournament giving some mainstream attention to the WWE. Further names in Mae Young Classic II includes recruit from Japan in the form of Io Shirai. Jinny, Kacy Catanzaro, Deonna Purrazzo, Tegan Nox, Jessica Elaban, Reina González and Nicole Mathews will also join her.
Kavita Devi will also be back to compete in this tournament representing India.
