On last week’s WWE Raw, Kurt Angle announced that he is going to face Baron Corbin in his Farewell match at WrestleMania 35. The speculations were running high around this particular match. Many of the legends were about to return to face the Hall of Famer and give him the proper send-off that he deserves.
Major changes happening at Wrestlemania 35
But as reported earlier, negative reactions are all over the place around this matchup. The social media is set abuzz with WWE booking Baron Corbin against Kurt Angle which is an underwhelming match. Veterans like Jim Ross and Gail Kim slammed Vince McMahon for taking such rush decision around this one-of-a-kind-contest.
So the Dirty Sheets reported that this match will not take place at Wrestlemania 35. WWE creative team already canceled this lineup just after the confirmation. They were not ready to receive such negative reactions around this contest. The fact that these two have been in a feud on Monday Night Raw for a long time could have helped a lot.
However, fans did not give any positive feedback despite that. Angle’s family was present on the show who was visibly upset with the announcement and so was the overall Chicago audience. Vince McMahon addressed the matter as soon as Kurt Angle headed to the backstage. He was the one to inform that Angle will get a different opponent at Wrestlemania 35.
We should note that Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin were practicing the Wrestlemania contest in Live Events. But Angle informed the officials that he was not happy with the experience. So Vince McMahon informed him that this match won’t be happening and that they’re going to “fix this” with a different option.

John Cena is the most speculated option who might replace Baron Corbin at Wrestlemania 35. We have heard the crowd chanting for him during the announcement. It is likely that WWE will please the audience by giving what they want. This is why Samoa Joe will no more face Cena in a United States Championship match. Here’s more from wwfoldschool.com
“Joe was scheduled to successfully defend the US Title against Rey Mysterio this week and then successfully defend it against R-Truth on next week’s SmackDown. After defeating R-Truth, Joe would’ve continued his assault on Truth as this would’ve led to Cena making the save and set up their WrestleMania 35 match.”
The source re-affirmed the fact that Angle vs. Cena was not the original plan for Wrestlemania. WWE structured this plan solely based on the negative crowd reaction on RAW.
