Hypes around women’s tag team titles continued with a big update from the WWE. These titles will be the one and only on the WWE roster that the champions will defend across the brands. Apart from the main roster shows, the NXT superstars can also participate in matches taking place over these two belts. WWE.com issued the following statement to confirm the upcoming title defenses across brands,
“Sasha Banks & Bayley made history at WWE Elimination Chamber to become the first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, so it’s only fitting that their reign set a new precedent. As The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection revealed on Raw 24 hours after capturing the titles, they will defend their championships against any challenger, current or veteran, across Raw, SmackDown LIVE and NXT.”
The source also hinted that the possibilities are endless when it comes to opponents for Sasha Banks and Bayley. Apart from the active roster members, past names like The Bella Twins can also return to challenge these two for the women’s tag team championships. NXT superstars might also be hungry to steal the show over these titles. But for now, Nia Jax and Tamina might be on the line following a confrontation on WWE Raw.
Sasha Banks and Bayley created history at Elimination Chamber. They won the inaugural women’s tag team championships defeating five other teams. This was the official opening of the tag division on the women’s roster that just keeps on growing. The Boss n Hug Connection secured a significant spot in this division.
They sounded confident about becoming fighting champions on the roster. It was just the start of a new beginning for them on the Road to Wrestlemania. The tag team title win at Elimination Chamber might have already confirmed a huge match for them. But prior to that, there will be Fastlane pay-per-view.
This would be the final stop prior to Wrestlemania that should witness women’s tag team title defense. True champions need to put the gold on the line in order to set their legacy. So Sasha Banks and Bayley will have to be ready for their first championship match following the title win. The competitions will be far bigger for them as hinted on last night’s WWE Raw.
