The TLC aka Tables, Ladders and Chairs gimmick is one of the most popular of all-time. This is why WWE hosts it as a separate PPV event, each year. On this Sunday night, we will receive the 10th PPV under this TLC chronology. But the WWE Universe got an early treat on last night’s WWE Raw in the form of a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. This was for the first time in more than five years that the flagship show hosted one such match on the weekly programming.
Seth Rollins kicked off the night which was the go-home edition of WWE TLC. He addressed the elephant of the room of WWE Raw being a garbage for the last few weeks. It was just a storyline way of the WWE creative to acknowledge the bitter truth. The Intercontinental Champion blamed none other than Baron Corbin for this condition of the show. This ensued a heated argument between the two of them.
The segment also led Seth Rollins to challenge Baron Corbin in a match on WWE Raw. The acting general manager of the show always looks forward to capitalizing on the given opportunities. So he decided to put the Intercontinental Championship on the line, right away. Additionally, the stipulation of the match turned out to be TLC aka Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. Seth Rollins did not back down from the fight that was set for the main event of the night.
Baron Corbin appointed Heath Slater as the special guest referee for this match on WWE Raw. He forced the former Smackdown tag champ to act as a puppet during the match. Slater was trying to protect the acting GM of WWE Raw throughout the match. Seth Rollins was just moments away to grab the title via a ladder after putting Baron Corbin through a table.
But Heath Slater prevented him from doing so. This led Seth Rollins to attack him with a superkick followed by a Buckle Bomb on his opponent. A Stomp put Baron Corbin down permanently as he grabbed the title climbing up the stairs. This turned out to be a must-see main event match on WWE Raw after a long time.
This match hyped up the WWE TLC PPV on this Sunday night. WWE Raw gained the needed momentum to get out of the stale phase that it was going through. The last time we saw a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match on WWE Raw was in January 2013. CM Punk defeated Ryback on that match for the WWE Championship via help from The Shield.
