We have not spotted the Hardy Boyz on TV since the post-Wrestlemania episode of Smackdown Live. It was the night that they made another history from WWE’s tag division. Matt & Jeff Hardy competed in a Tag Team Title Match against The Usos and defeated them to become the new champions on the blue brand. It started a record eighth title reign for the veteran players.

However, the journey for the Hardy Boyz as the tag team champions on Smackdown started in the most devastating way possible. Apparently, Jeff Hardy has picked up another injury in recent memory to get himself sidelined from in-ring competition. Naturally, their status as the champions are in stakes as WWE is thinking of taking their championships away.
WWE’s injury list already features names like features the likes of Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Nia Jax & Big E in the post-Wrestlemania season. Dave Meltzer first reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jeff Hardy was the latest inductee into the list. He may have picked up an injury during a Smackdown house show that took place in Madison, Wisconsin on April 20th. It was the last time that Jeff competed in a match meaning he suffered the injury during this match.
The source stated the following on one-half of the tag team champions,
“Jeff Hardy is injured, I don’t know how severe. It was on the Saturday night show in Madison Wisconsin. He was at the show last night — I haven’t heard about tonight — he was at the show in Rochester Minnesota. He was in the corner of Matt. He was limping significantly so it’s probably some sort of a leg injury.”
Later, Meltzer added that it is a leg injury that forced Jeff Hardy to go into a sabbatical. The extent of the damage is still unknown so we can’t say when we will see the tag team champions making an appearance on Smackdown. In case, the Charismatic Enigma has to undergo surgery then it’s certain that a new team will pick up the vacant championships.
We should note that Jeff Hardy has been wrestling with a leg concussion for the past few years. A bike accident back in the year 2015 caused a torn PCL in his right knees. If he has hurt that area again then the injury could turn out to be fatal. WWE has not provided any official update on Jeff, till now. We expect a fallout on the situation when Smackdown airs. Perhaps new tag team champions are on their way on tonight’s episode.
