WWE presented its consecutive second premium live event in the form of NXT Battleground 2023 just a day after Night of Champions. The NXT PLE went down last night at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts and it also went head-to-head with AEW Double or Nothing 2023 which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada. – In the opening match of NXT Battleground 2023, Wes Lee (c) defeated Tyler Bate and Joe Gacy in a Triple Threat Match to retain the NXT North American Championship. Gacy managed to knock Bate off the ring apron. He went for a top-rope move, when Lee blocked it, brought him down, and hit him with a Cardiac Kick for the pin-fall win.
With his win at NXT Battleground 2023, Lee now has successfully defended his title on ten separate occasions during his ongoing reign which set the record of most successful North American Championship defenses by a single champion in NXT history.
Night Of Champions 2023: Trish Stratus Breaks 17-Year-Old WWE Streak; Becky Lynch Sends Warning
– Noam Dar (c) defeated Dragon Lee at NXT Battleground 2023 with some help from Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, and Jakara Jackson in a “British Rounds Rules” match to retain the NXT Heritage Cup. Dar had the score 2-1 against Lee by the end of the match as he retained his prized possession.
– Ilja Dragunov defeated Dijak in a Last Man Standing Match. After a running headbutt, Dragunov leaped off the top of the stairs in the ring and drove Dijak’s head down onto a steel chair. Dijak was unable to answer the referee’s ten-count.
– Gallus (c) defeated The Creed Brothers to retain the NXT Tag Team Championship at NXT Battleground 2023. Joe Coffey tried to interfere in favor of Gallus but he was tripped by Ivy Nile. Ava Raine then appeared and threw Nile into the turnbuckle as the distraction allowed Gallus to hit their double-team finisher on Creeds to retain.

WWE NXT Battleground 2023 Results (28/05/23): Women’s Title Tournament Final
– Tiffany Stratton defeated Lyra Valkyria to win the vacant NXT Women’s Championship. Valkyria went for a powerbomb off the top rope but Stratton held on and then hit a hurricanrana. She quickly followed up with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to become the new champion at the age of just 24.
– In the main event of NXT Battleground 2023, Carmelo Hayes (c) defeated Bron Breakker to retain the NXT Championship. After kicking out of a Spear, Hayes downed Breakker with multiple Superkicks. He finally connected with the Nothing but Net leg-drop finisher to pick up the win.
