Betrayal storylines are pretty infamous between friends turned foes in WWE NXT history as well as on the main roster. One such beef is currently heating up between former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin. The latter is exceptionally popular among the fans on social media but it seems that she is not the one who will be positioned as “the star” in this rivalry.
While speaking about the rivalry between the two WWE NXT female stars, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer noted that it’s very clear that Jacy Jayne is the one who will be pushed into the next level, coming out of this very personal rivalry,
“It’s very clear they are positioning Jayne as the star, but they want a longer program with the two and thus started with a Dolin win and Jayne beating her down after the match.”

When Jayne betrayed Dolin, the angle was compared to the classic angle when NXT VP of Talent Relations and Creative Shawn Michaels turned on Marty Janetty in a barber shop incident. Michaels had super-kicked his old partner and threw him through a window.
Jayne admittedly accepted the fact that Michaels’ gave her “blessing” to re-do some scenes inside the squared circle while speaking in an interview on Busted Open Radio,
”Then, kind of getting Shawn’s blessing to re-do some history there. That was a big deal for me. I didn’t want to mess it up. I didn’t want to screw up. I wanted to make a memory.”
Dolin and Jayne had plenty of history on WWE NXT
Dolin and Jayne were a top tag team as part of Toxic Attraction as they have captured WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles, twice with their leader Mandy Rose as the NXT Women’s Champion. The two initially intended to take forward the faction since Rose’s release from the company, last December. But they eventually came to odds after receiving a singles title opportunity from Roxanne Perez.
During an episode of Bayley’s “Ding, Dong, Hello” show, Jayne brutally attacked Dolin and sent her head through a prop door kept in the middle of the ring, turning heel. Due to a malfunction, the Marty Jannetty-scene couldn’t be properly reenacted. This happened after both of them came up short to capture the WWE NXT Women’s Title from Roxanne Perez in a Triple Threat at NXT Vengeance Day.
