A scary finish was shown at the WWE NXT Roadblock 2023 special, this past Tuesday Night on the USA Network. In the main event, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez retained her title against Meiko Satomura.
As Meiko was raising her hands as a sign of respect, the champion collapsed in the ring. She was eventually stretchered out of the arena. Her mentor and current NXT commentator Booker T also ran into the ring as he offered his help to the top female superstar of NXT.

Following WWE NXT Roadblock, a medical update was provided on the condition of NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez following her collapse during Tuesday’s show. After being stretchered out of the arena in an ambulance, Perez was kept overnight in the hospital for observation and further tests. By the looks of the happening, fans are wondering whether this is a legit injury or not.
In a report from Wrestling INC, it’s been assured that this injury is just a part of a kayfabe storyline Since vignettes leading up to WWE NXT Roadblock showed how Perez had gone through weeks of exhaustive workouts while preparing for Satomura. The rigorous sessions have finally caught up with her which is the storyline perspective that WWE wants us to show.

WWE Hall of Famer and the current WWE NXT head honcho, Shawn Michaels also took forward the angle by wishing good health for the champion. In a tweet, he stated the following,
“What happened last night showed that Roxanne Perez is a fighting champion. She left it all in the ring. I want to wish Roxanne a speedy recovery after a great title defense.”

Perez won the WWE NXT Women’s Championship last December, defeating the former and now ex-WWE Superstar Mandy Rose on the December 13 episode. With that win, she had become the youngest NXT Women’s Champion in the developmental brand’s history. Moving on, she also got the opportunity to compete in the women’s Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant since the show took place in her home state of Texas.
It was out of mutual respect for each other that Perez agreed to have a title match with the veteran Meiko Satomura at WWE NXT Roadblock 2023, thereafter. We’ll have to wait and see whether this collapse moment set up a rematch between the two.
