Following this week’s WWE NXT, you can no more call Dominik Mysterio Mami’s puppet but rather a champion who’s ready to run the show. In what appeared to be a shocker in the main event of this week’s NXT, the Judgment Day faction helped Dom to win the first singles gold of his WWE career.
As seen on WWE NXT, there have been multiple announcements regarding the upcoming Great American Bash on July 30. Meanwhile, a solid main event was in store where for the first time, Dominik competed against Wes Lee, challenging for the latter’s North American Title. Eventually, the challenger emerged victorious via help from his Judgment Day buddies – Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and Finn Balor.
Lee had Dom downed with a kick when Finn Balor distracted the referee as Damian Priest tried to hit Lee with his own title. Lee dodged the move and hit him back with the Kardiak Kick but Rhea Ripley ended up nailing Lee with the Women’s World Championship. Mysterio simply pinned Lee to pick up the victory and thereby win the WWE NXT North American Championship.
Dominik wins first singles championship on WWE NXT
It was on last week’s episode of WWE NXT that Judgment Day invaded the show and Dominik declared that he was going to challenge for the North American title. Now that he had ended up winning his first singles championship win in WWE, we should remind that Mysterio is also a former SmackDown Tag Team Champion which he won with his father and former tag team partner Rey Mysterio.
With this victory, Dominik Mysterio will go on to WWE NXT Great American Bash scheduled for July 30 to defend his title. A title match between Lee and Mustafa Ali was previously announced for the PLE, but following the title switch, Ali will now challenge Dom for the title.

Wes Lee’a strong title reign comes to an end
As for the former champion Lee, he has been the WWE NXT North American Title on October 22, 2022, during the Halloween Havoc by defeating Carmelo Hayes, Nathan Frazer, Oro Mensah, and Von Wagner in a Five-Way Ladder match for the then-vacant title. Lee had proven to be a strong champion who regularly defended the title on weekly episodes of NXT and PLEs.
