During the latest weekly episode of WWE NXT, a title match was announced where Tony D’Angelo will challenge for the NXT North American Title held by Wes Lee.
In a backstage segment on the show, D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo were spotted backstage, where D’Angelo revealed that Wes Lee has granted him a title match set for next week. Dijak was advised to stay out of the equation as he’s also gunning for the mid-card title since his return to Tuesday nights.

History of Wes Lee and Tony on NXT
Lee has been the WWE NXT North American Champion since winning the belt on the October 22 Halloween Havoc episode. On that night, he defeated then-champion Carmelo Hayes, Oro Mensah, Nathan Frazer, and Von Wagner in a fatal-5-way ladder match. This marked the first singles title reign for him as he is also a two-time former NXT Tag Team Champion.
D’Angelo is yet to pick up a title in his WWE NXT stint. He made his TV debut on October 2021, where he defeated Malik Blade. It was in February 2021 that he signed a deal with the WWE.
As for Lee, he made his NXT debut on the January 16, 2021 edition of NXT. Primarily, he used to team with Nash Carter as part of the MSK. They defeated former WWE Superstars Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Jake Atlas in the first round of the 2021 Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The two had also become two-time tag champions on NXT.
Next week’s edition of WWE NXT will also feature a Battle of the Bar where Kiana James and Fallon Henley will battle to earn rights to the latter’s family bar. Additionally, Cora Jade will look to settle her differences with Wendy Choo when they go head-to-head, while Schism will square off with Malik Blade, Edris Enofé, and Odyssey Jones.
