The 2023 WWE NXT New Year’s Evil edition had NXT Championship on the line which ended in controversy. Apart from that, superstars emerged as new challengers for the Women’s Title, Tag Title, and the North American Title through separate matches. – Dijak defeated Tony D’Angelo with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo by his side in the opening match of WWE NXT New Year’s Evil. Stacks wanted to sacrifice himself but Tony shoved him off and digested a big boot to suffer the loss. Dijak has been announced for NXT North American Championship held by Wes Lee.
Chelsea Green Reportedly Back With WWE; Update On Her Husband’s Status
– Indus Sher vs. The Creed Brothers in a tag team match never happened as Veer Mahaan didn’t show up. Jinder Mahal replaced Veer and accompanied Sanga in a beatdown to The Creeds.
– Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) defeated Jimmy Jackson & Bryan Williams and Edris Enofé & Malik Blade to move on to the third match of the Gauntlet with Gallus (Wolfgang & Mark Coffey). Gallus pinned Wilson with their double-team finisher to become the new Number-One Contender for the WWE NXT Tag Team Championships.
– Tiffany Stratton made her return to NXT from injury and claimed that “the center of the universe is back.”
WWE NXT Results (10/01/23): NXT Title Match result
– Bron Breakker (c) defeated Grayson Waller to retain the WWE NXT Championship. The ring ropes broke twice during this match. Waller fell on the floor the second time and got counted out by the referee. Both the champion and the challenger weren’t happy with the controversial match finish.
Top WWE Raw Superstar’s Contract Coming To An End In Early 2023?
– Charlie Dempsey defeated Hank Walker (with Drew Gulak) by reversing the Arm-bar submission hold with the Regal Stretch submission.
– Jinder Mahal (with Sanga) returned to action by defeating Julius Creed in a singles contest. Mahal successfully planted Julius with the Cobra Clutch finisher for the pinfall win.
– Stevie Turner featured in a vignette as he teased a return to WWE NXT TV with an online streamer gimmick.
WWE NXT Results (10/01/23): Women’s Battle Royal
– In the main event of WWE NXT New Year’s Evil, Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin were declared to be the winners of the 20-Woman Battle Royal as they eliminated each other from the match. Dolin punched Jayne and they fell on the floor at the same time off the middle ropes.
It was thereafter announced that Roxanne Perez will defend her NXT Women’s Championship in a Triple Threat against Dolin and Jayne at NXT Vengeance Day.
– To end things for WWE NXT New Year’s Evil, WWE Legend Shawn Michaels announced Bron Breakker vs. Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship in a Steel Cage Match at NXT Vengeance Day premium live event.
