Just a few hours before Wrestlemania 39 Night One, WWE also hosted the NXT Stand and Deliver 2023 premium live event. In one of the marquee matches of the night the NXT Women’s Championship was hanging in the balance in a Ladder Match which saw a new champion NXT’s third brand.
In the very first match of NXT Stand and Deliver 2023, this title change happened as Indi Hartwell climbed the ladder to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. But she did get the win with a little help from her storyline husband, Dexter Lumis who returned to NXT TV to reincarnate one of the most beloved on-screen couple acts of the brand.
WWE NXT Stand And Deliver 2023: The HIM Era Begins With Carmelo Hayes
Apart from Indi Hartwell, the Ladder Match at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023 also featured the former champion Roxanne Perez, Tiffany Stratton, Gigi Dolin, Lyra Valkyria, and Zoey Stark in a Six-Way Match capacity with a lot of twists and turns in store. One of the surprises saw a returning Jacy Jayne who prevented her former Toxic Attraction buddy, Dolin, from climbing the ladder and winning the belt.
The finishing sequence of the match at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023 saw Hartwell standing alone in the ring with a ladder underneath the hanging championship. She was having trouble climbing after going through the strenuous match. Hence, Lumis appeared, slid into the ring, lifted Indi on his shoulders, and helped her climb the ladder so that she could retrieve the belt.
Indi and Lumis back as a couple at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023
WWE Universe was indeed thrilled to see Indi and Lumis back as a couple on NXT Stand and Deliver 2023. They were part of one of the greatest NXT storylines before it transitioned to NXT 2.0 in 2021. Their on-screen wedding took place in the final segment of the very first episode of that 2.0 era.
Lumis was soon released from WWE months later leaving Indi high and dry, craving for success. She was inserted into the NXT Stand and Deliver 2023 ladder match in the last minute after winning a “last chance” opportunity, this past Wednesday night. Lumis has been teaming up with Johnny Gargano on Raw since his return. It’ll be interesting to see whether he now returns to NXT for the reenacted InDex shtick.
