Multiple championship changes went down at WWE NXT Stand and Deliver 2023 just a few hours before Wrestlemania 39 Night One streamed on the WWE Network. One of those title changes happened during the Women’s Tag Team Championship match where Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn defeated Fallon Henley and Kiana James to become the new champions.
After a back-and-forth going in the match, the challengers hit a combination of a backstabber and swanton bomb combo on Kiana to secure the pinfall win. The outcome was pretty evident heading into NXT Stand and Deliver 2023 since Kiana and Henley were barely seeing eye-to-eye due to disagreements in their personal romantic lives.

The win marks Fyre and Dawn’s first title reign with the tag championship belts. Before suffering the loss at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023, James and Henley were the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions since defeating Katana Chance and Kayden Carter at NXT Vengeance Day back in early February. It was also the first time that the duo won any titles on NXT.

Fyre and Dawn begin maiden tag title run at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023
Fyre is a bonafide champion from the former WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion as she held the title for over 600 days. Back then she used to go by the name of Kay Lee Ray. Dawn was also part of that former NXT UK promotion. This is the first time that she’s holding a championship in the WWE at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023.
Before acting as a tag team now, the two also were longtime rivals on NXT. Dawn previously made her return to WWE programming on November 15, 2022, and cost Fyre her title shot at the NXT Women’s Championship then held by Mandy Rose at Halloween Havoc. In December at NXT Deadline, Dawn defeated Fyre in a singles contest. Then on the January 3 episode of NXT, Fyre defeated Dawn in an Extreme Resolution Match.
A few weeks later, Fyre and Dawn became tag team partners and WWE Universe can now call themselves new tag champs following NXT Stand and Deliver 2023. This wasn’t the only title change coming out of the latest bygone PLE, though. Carmelo Hayes defeated Bron Breakker to become the new NXT Champion while Indi Hartwell won a ladder match to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
